enry David Thoreau found peace and solitude in his experience at Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. It's a long way out west to Jackson County, but we think Henry would have loved it here, too!

Walden, Colorado is located in the heart of 1600 square miles of cattle range, cowboys, and good people who love their land. It's landscape is filled with wide open spaces, framed by spectacular mountains and filled with magnificent wildlife.

In the heart of Walden is the River Rock Cafe. We're in "downtown" Walden, right on Main Street where the Coffee Pot Cafe once stood. That landmark was destroyed by fire in 2002 and the River Rock Cafe was created to provide more seating, a bar and a banquet room. The interior design features river rock and timber reflecting the spirit of the West in Jackson County. It is a gathering place for all of us who call this little town our home. And amid the cowhands who stop in for coffee and families who share a meal together, The River Rock is also a pit-stop for travelers from around the world.

Some are pedaling their way across America and hail from far away England, Germany, New Zealand, or just over the hill from Ft. Collins. Others ride their motocycles through the winding, scenic beauty of Highway 14 and stop in at The River Rock, wet their whistle and swap stories about the road. Walden has always been a favorite among the "Sturgis crowd" on the way to the mega Dakota event every year.

Hunters begin their mornings with the best breakfast in town. Fishermen end it talking about their catch over a beer under the moose in the bar. Travelers stop in for a bite to eat and leave impressed with the fare and the friendly service. The River Rock Cafe is proud to be the gathering place for our town, and friends we make from around the world.
